Soroka Medical Center
Soroka Medical Center is the second largest hospital in Israel. It serves as a main medical facility for almost 60% of the country. Soroka University Medical Center was named after Moshe Soroka, who was one of the pioneers of the Clalit Health Fund and of health services in Israel and did a lot for public hospitalization in the country. The Soroka Hospital and University Medical Center has about 1000 hospital beds. The Center provides medical services for all the people living in the Negev district. The Medical Center has received the quality certification and the prestigious JCI accreditation for safety.
In 57 years of existence, the Soroka University Medical Center has evolved from a small peripheral hospital to a medical center equipped with leading technologies, a leader in research and development as well as in maintaining human dignity and rights. Soroka University Medical Center leads a large number of advanced services and active research. For example, the National Infectious Disease unit for children participates in a worldwide research.
Soroka University Medical Center is the largest employer in the Negev with 4200 employees including about 800 doctors and nurses.
