Negev Zoo
Location: Kiryat Betz, Beersheba.
The place was founded about 50 years ago by a science teacher from Beersheba, who raised mice and other animals for her students and set up a small zoo at the school.
At the zoo, there are about 150 kinds of animals from Israel and abroad. Visitors can feed the animals with special food that can be purchased at the entrance. The pet corner encourages direct contact between the visitors and the animals. Most of the animals that live in the garden were born captive and were accustomed to the presence of people nearby. Some of the animals are wild. They were brought by inspectors of the Nature and Parks Authority and private individuals for medical treatment after they were found injured in the wild.
