The Museum of Islamic Culture
The Museum of Islamic Culture was built in the old city of Beersheba. It was built at the beginning of the 20th century and served as the local mosque. In 1917-1948, Muslims were the majority in the land of Israel and the mosque was their religious center. After the State of Israel was established, the mosque was used as a prison and a court.
In 2011 the court decided to turn the building into a museum. Today, the museum presents historical and modern works of Islamic culture. The museum exhibits the artistic and cultural traditions of the Middle East and Islam.
