The ANZAC Memorial Center
Location: 4 Ostrovsky St., Beersheba.
The museum was opened on October, 31,2017 during the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the liberation of the city by the ANZAK forces . It was built by the joined effort of the governments of Australia and Israel, as well as the city municipality, official organizations and private funds from abroad. As you see, the building is shaped as a horse head since the battle for Beersheba is considered to be the last successful horse battle in war history. Suffice it to say that out of thousands of horses brought to Palestine during World War I only one made it back home.
The museum offers a unique experience .The whole exposition is based on a personal story presented in authentic letters and drawings, multimedia displays with interactive tools and a specially designed elevator that lifts you slowly to the second floor while you are watching a documentary about the ANZAC horsemen in Palestine. There are a lot of artifacts that were found in Israel or were generously donated by Australia and New Zealand .The museum offers the service of professional guides who will make your visit unforgettable.
